Tiga Sushi Bar & Asian Bistro

Tiga Sushi Bar & Asian Bistro is located on Liberty Street SE in Salem, Oregon.

This place used to be the home to at least a couple of Mexican restaurants when I was going to school in Salem. Now Tiga gives this spot a shot. I met a few friends downtown for dinner.

The menu has several appetizers, lots of sushi options, and even pho (Vietnamese noodle soup).

The Jalapeno Poppers ($8) is a choice of cream cheese and imitation crab filling, or spicy tuna. You can get two of each if you wish, and there's four to an order. The jalapenos still had a good crunch to them, but with all the membranes and seeds taken out, then heated, there was basically no spice left to them. I prefer the spicy tuna one.

Next was the Spicy California Roll ($6), a California Roll with spicy mayo, sriracha, and sesame seeds. About eight pieces in an order. Very good sushi. Just around the right ratio of mayo to imitation crab.

I turned a bit adventurous with the Java Roll ($11), which had spicy tuna, avocado, and cucumber inside, topped with a variety of fish. Again, the fish looked fresh and everything was prepared wonderfully.

While I passed on any alcohol on this visit, there are a few beers on tap that I may look into more next time.

Very good, friendly service. Tiga is a great sushi spot in downtown Salem! 8/10

  1. If you can't stand crowd then for sure get to event space San Francisco here early to start off your night. Our group did this just a few days ago and quaffed down some tasty beers and ciders before making our escape to further escapades in the city.
