The inside feels the same as the last time I went. The elephants in the room, though, were the increased prices. Not surprisingly, poutine has gotten more expensive since 2013.
I got the small Smoked Meat Poutine ($12.50), which adds cubes of famous Montreal smoked meat to the traditional fries, gravy, and cheese curds. In 2013, I would have paid just $7.50, and I don't know if the portion size has been altered since.
Still, it's a great poutine. Good fries and nice gravy, as expected. The curds themselves didn't squeak as much as I thought they would, but the meat was tender and delicious. With several places in Canada to get your poutine fix, places need to stay at the top of their game.
Also notably - and not surprisingly - the all-you-can-eat poutine that was on the menu in 2013 is no longer there. It was $19.50 at the time and would not have been a sustainable business option.
La Belle Patate remains one of my go-to spots for poutine in BC. 8.5/10
