Thai Bistro Suksabay

Thai Bistro Suksabay is located on Kamehameha Hwy, in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center, in Aiea, HI.

So after largely eating at home and eating fast food for almost five months, I caved and wanted Thai food as a changeup.

COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time included social gatherings of no more than five people and masks required while in public (especially inside the restaurant).

I ordered online through Bitesquad and opted to pick up my food for lunchtime. We got three dishes to try.

The Veggie Summer Rolls ($10) were great. It had tofu, carrots, lettuce, mint leaves, somen noodles, and bean sprouts, wrapped in rice paper. Wonderfully wrapped, great crunch from the veggies. It's served with a tasty Thai peanut sauce that has chopped peanuts in it.

Their Beef Garlic Stir Fry ($12) also gets two thumbs up. Sliced beef sauteed with garlic, onions, orange and green bell peppers, green onions, and their special house sauce. The sauce has a savory sweetness to it and goes well with the natural beef juices.

Finally, I enjoyed their Chicken Pad Thai ($12). Noodles were cooked well, considering they also had to endure a drive home before eating. Bean sprouts added some crunch. Because my folks were also eating some, I got this at a medium heat level. To be fair, medium actually packed noticeable heat here. But you know I'd go extra spicy if I had the chance.

It's too bad that the pandemic hit, since I'd love to go back and dine in next time. Due to social distancing, there was no one waiting and the place didn't have many customers that I saw.

I recommend trying Thai Bistro Suksabay if you're in the area. Great food here. 8.5/10
