Podnah's Pit

Podnah's Pit is located on N Killingsworth in Portland, Oregon.

After several years, knock another spot off the panda's list of places to try. Podnah's is generally open for lunch and dinner each day, but has a breakfast/brunch menu on weekends from 9 to 1. Being the early morning panda that I am, I ventured down for a quick brunch.

The breakfast/brunch menu has several Tex-Mex favorites, such as breakfast tacos, huevos rancheros, and migas.

I got the Breakfast Tacos with Bacon ($9): a couple of flour tortilla tacos containing house-made bacon, eggs, potatoes, peppers, and onions. Mild salsa on the side, and I assume there was no spicier option.

These tacos were some of the best I've had. Perfectly cooked potatoes and scrambled eggs, and the cooked peppers and onions retained their freshness and crunch. The thick, yet tender bits of bacon put me on cloud nine. Lovely fresh salsa. Probably the only thing I would have wanted was more heat. Even something like roasted jalapenos could have amplified these tacos tenfold.

Podnah's serves Stumptown Coffee. It's $3 and self-serve, unlimited refills.

No wait at around 9:30 on a Saturday. More people flocked in during the 30+ minutes after I arrived, but still, tables were available if you didn't have a massive party.

Probably 6-8 taps of beer available, plus wine and a full bar.

Podnah's bottles their three sauces (BBQ, Vinegar, and Carolina Mustard). You know I'll be back for the Texas BBQ here. Protein gainz for days.

Check out Podnah's if you're craving BBQ or an Austin-like breakfast in Portland! 9.5/10
