Tin Shed

Tin Shed is located at the corner of NE 14th and Alberta in Portland, Oregon.

After also having this place on my list for seemingly eons, I finally tried this place on a Saturday morning. The place opens at 7 AM and will basically be a zoo for the rest of the day -- especially breakfast and brunch.

I arrived at about 9 AM. People put their names on the wait list. Depending on the size of your party, it can be a few minutes or a lot more than that. Since I was flying solo and didn't mind sitting at the bar, my wait was maybe a minute or two.

Coffee, tea, and water are self-serve. Coffee is $2.75 and is likely as much caffeine as you want.

Being in an Eggs Benedict mood, I got the Bennie Hill with bacon and avocado ($14). Poached free-range eggs, house-made hollandaise, bacon, and avocado. You get cheese grits or potato pancakes, but they can give you a bit of both if you like. Sign me up for both.

Great benedict here. The bacon was still on the slightly crispy side, generous helping of avocado, and perfectly poached eggs. Awesome hollandaise. I loved the potato pancakes, crispy on the outside with that extra peppery kick. Cheese grits were also proper.

A bunch of choices for drinks at the bar, from wine to beer to cocktails. Yes, they even have pepper-infused vodka. You can bet that will be on my list at some point.

Glad I crossed Tin Shed off my list. It's a great breakfast spot; just be prepared to wait if you're going with a few people. 8/10
