pFriem Family Brewers

pFriem Family Brewers is located on Portway Avenue in Hood River, Oregon.

As my beer blog confirms, I've had several of pFriem's beers before, but had not gone to the brewery in Hood River until my adventure there last November.

Heading here right at peak dinner time on a Saturday, the wait time for a table would be a while (at least 45-60 minutes). The bar otherwise was first-come, first-serve like virtually all other breweries I've been to, Otherwise, we were free to grab a beer and wait around. In their adjacent room, you could buy beer to go (bottles, cans, crowlers, growlers), and other merchandise like clothes, mugs, or other memorabilia.

It's a good, yet fairly simple menu. Even though I had just eaten at Solstice a couple doors away, I was really tempted to get their poutine ($7). There was even a poutine topped with boudin sausage. But alas, the food would need to wait for another day.

There were approximately 20 taps, and while a flight of beer was tempting, the Exploratory Hazy #26 was so good, I had to get a 12 oz to myself. A NE-Style IPA made with Australian hops that gives off a citrus-pineapple, resinous, and white grape experience. Fruity, juicy, and refreshing. Those exploratory releases are limited-time, to my knowledge.

It's a great atmosphere overall at pFriem. Head to their brewery if you're in Hood River! 8.5/10
