Egghead Cafe

Egghead Cafe is located on Dillingham Blvd in Honolulu, Hawaii.

I occasionally still want to find more spots serving a good breakfast or brunch. A quick Google search led me here.

Egghead Cafe really has two sides, the main sit-down restaurant and an adjacent coffee shop that serves the same menu, but is more a self-serve space. On the coffee shop side, the server will still bring you your food, but you'll order everything at the counter and pick up any drinks at the counter. You'll then bus your own table after finishing.

The menu has your typical breakfast items, from omelets to benedicts to pancakes, with a few twists on some classics.

The Pork Belly Benedict ($23) called my name this time: Slow-braised pork belly, green onion, fried shallots, and poached egg. Instead of an English muffin, Egghead Cafe uses a piece of French bread as the base. Also, instead of a traditional starch like potatoes or hash browns, you'll get some mixed greens with a light vinaigrette dressing.

Overall, a great benedict. Juicy and tender pork belly. Fried shallots added extra texture and flavor. French bread still soft to slice through with a knife. One of my poached eggs was overcooked, but the other was perfect.

My mom also ordered a hot chocolate. Didn't get the price offhand, but probably in that $5 range. The hot chocolate even came with some "latte art" in the form of a pig.

Very nice experience overall. I personally enjoyed the coffee shop side because it was less busy and quieter. I could go in, get my food, eat, and leave fairly quickly.

A solid recommend for Egghead Cafe. 8/10
