Seeking a more refreshing lunch and craving more of a sandwich, I figured SE Portland would have something, and they came through again with Dream Deli.
Dream Deli opened in November 2025, bringing Italian and Jewish deli classics to Portland. When I visited, I found their menu quite simple, limited to a few sandwiches, drinks, and snacks. I think that's a good thing, focus on doing a few items very well instead of 50+ items just average.
I saw sheet pans of foccacia ready to go, which excited me more.
I went with the Turkey ($15): house-made turkey, Swiss, pickled onions, fruity peach mustard, lettuce, and basil aioli on foccacia. It comes with a half dill pickle spear. Several beverages to choose from, but I opted for free water.
Delicious sandwich here, small but mighty. It starts with the wonderful aromatic foccacia and fresh turkey. Mild Swiss works, although not melted since this is a cold sandwich. Wonderful pickled onions for a little bite. But it was the fruity peach mustard and the basil aioli stealing the show. That peach works well, giving that sweet-tangy vibe. Basil aioli was the upscale mayo equivalent, adding more dimension and flavor to every bite. While the pickle spear wasn't crunchy, the sandwich indeed was the star.
I only saw the Porchetta special after I ate. If anyone got it that day, hopefully Dream Deli makes a good one. I've had it two other places in Oregon, and it's been delicious each time.
Since I went on a weekday for lunch, it was a quieter vibe. I'd figure their busier times are more on the weekends.
Dream Deli is a great place for a lovely sandwich in Portland. 8.25/10
