Cloud City Ice Cream is located near SE 46th Avenue and Woodstock Blvd in Portland, Oregon.
When heat waves arrive in Portland, ice cream is a logical stop. I stopped by on yet another steamy Portland day. Cloud City offers about a dozen different ice creams and eight sorbets. They tend to have more of their most popular flavors ready to scoop. Cloud City will rotate seasonal flavors as well.
I ordered a regular scoop of their Salted Caramel Swirl ($3.25). Excellent, quality ice cream. Intense caramel flavor right from the start, and it doesn't get too sweet on me. Among the best salted caramel ice creams I've had.
While you can get pints ($7) and quarts ($12) of this ice cream, I figure it would all melt in the car within 5 seconds during 90-degree weather, so no to-go dessert for the panda this time.
My friend (who happens to be a regular at this place) wants Bourbon Vanilla to come back to the menu -- preferably full-time. Got my vote for that, too!
Cloud City also offers sundaes ($6.75) and a banana split ($8.50).
While Salt & Straw rightfully gets the long lines, I didn't have any such long line this time at Cloud City. Quicker service as a result. Head on over to Cloud City for a top-notch treat! 9/10
I definitely dream about going to this party place again. The live music at venues in NYC was an added bonus, providing a backdrop for the fun hours spent imbibing, tasting, and chatting up with the breweries and beer distributors.ReplyDelete
