Weinhard Grill

Weinhard Grill is located on Main Street in Oregon City, Oregon.

I was in the area in late February and stopped by on two occasions for lunch. Both times, the place had a handful of people and was not too packed.

The lunch menu mainly has appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Full bar available with about 8-10 beers or ciders on tap.

Sandwiches and burgers generally come with choice of fries, garlic fries, potato salad, or cole slaw. You can upgrade to soup of the day or salad for $2 more.

On the first day, beer thirty was a must, so I had Hop Valley's Citrus Mistress IPA while I was there. Excellent Oregon beer, highly recommended if you're an IPA fan.

For food, I had the Slow Roasted Pulled Pork Sandwich ($10): in-house slow-roasted pork shoulder, and homemade cole slaw on a bun. It usually comes with fries or garlic fries, but I went with more cole slaw because pandas gotta eat veggies too.

Nice grilled bun, with juicy and tender pulled pork. I enjoyed the crunchy cole slaw. Perhaps a bit more seasoning on the pork, or alternatively a KC style or Carolina Mustard BBQ sauce amp it up more. And perhaps a tad more acidity on the cole slaw. Still didn't stop me from eating it all. With more hot sauce, of course. Tapatio would suffice on this day.

I came back for a second lunch the following day. I started with coffee this time; it's bottomless caffeine, so you'll definitely get your fix at some point.

I tried the Turkey Club ($12): in-house slow roasted turkey breast, layered with lettuce, tomato, and applewood smoked bacon. I 86'd the mayo and got some mustard on the side. Again, I couldn't get away from the cole slaw and got it again.

It's a good-sized sandwich, grilled sourdough on this visit. Fresh lettuce and tomato. Bacon cooked nicely. Unfortunately, the turkey seemed a bit dry. Although the menu said turkey breast, the meat looked a shade darker. Yet again, though, I cleaned my plate.

I also probably got an extra scoop of slaw this time; it certainly looked like a bigger helping than the previous day's plate.

Excellent service both days. No complaints there.

If in Oregon City, Weinhard Grill is a decent place for food. 7/10
