The company I work for has started bringing us back to work in the office one day a week for the foreseeable future. My new coworkers and I all went out to get some lunch. We each picked our own spots to go to, and I went with Niu Baguette.
This is a Vietnamese spot, and the menu has the typical offerings, including pho, banh mi, and several rice dishes. They will also have daily lunch specials on their board.
It's an unassuming spot downtown. Only a few tables are available. There are spaces to park on the street, and there are more than enough people in the area for this place to survive post-COVID, especially as more workers head back to the office or adopt a hybrid approach.
I was in the mood for a sandwich, so I got the #37 Special Combo Banh Mi ($10.99). It has BBQ pork. BBQ chicken, picked daikon/carrots, cucumber, mayo, green jalapenos, onions, and cilantro in a baguette.
A good, honest sandwich here. Good flavor on the pork and chicken, both still tender. Love the crunch from the veggies and the acidity of the pickled versions. Bread held up nicely and didn't fall apart. I just wish they gave me more than two sliced jalapenos.
There's one of the two jalapenos I got... |
Even when waiting with a couple coworkers, I maybe had a 5-7 minute wait for my order, not too bad.
Maybe one day when I have some more time, I'll come back down here to try the pho. A nice place downtown to get your Vietnamese food fix. 7.75/10
