I recently took a short trip to Seattle and Vancouver BC with my mom. Confirmed that I still don't do well on redeyes. Got maybe two hours of off-and-on sleep on the flight to Seattle, with the plan to drive into BC later that morning. This was our one stop before the border.
Birch Door is a nice spot, with two levels of parking, but I didn't see the upper lot of parking until later.
It's spacious on the side. Got there just before 10 AM and was still busy even during the middle of the week in mid-May.
Lots on the menu, with several house specialties. But knowing we still had a longer drive ahead and seeing the large portions exiting the kitchen, the smart move was to split a meal.
The Classic Eggs Benedict ($20.45) has two English muffins, Canadian bacon, poached eggs, and hollandaise. You'll have your choice of breakfast potatoes or three buttermilk pancakes, and we chose potatoes.
Even when splitting the order across two plates, the portions look larger than several breakfast spots I've been to.
Excellent all around, with awesome potatoes, perfectly poached eggs, cooked Canadian bacon, toasted English muffin, and tasty hollandaise. I added some hot sauce to my portion, where Cholula and Tapatio are available.
Excellent service all around. Even when a server dropped a plate at a nearby table, other servers came over to help out.
Birch Door would normally be well out of the way to visit again, but if I decide on another drive to BC, Birch Door Cafe is a great place to get your food fix before the border. 9/10
