Continuing my pho and banh mi adventures in Hawaii, a coworker recommended that I try Pho & Company in Kapolei. It's in the Kapolei Marketplace, where there are several eateries and other businesses.
My mom and I went on a Saturday for lunch. Fairly busy, but no wait when we arrived. All the condiments and utensils are at the table.
Traditional menu here, from pho to banh mi to rice/noodle plates. Notable here that there are three pho sizes. Medium is about $16, large is $18, and the extra large is $26. Quite a price difference from large to extra large, a contrast to pho places that only have a couple bucks difference between their smallest and largest sizes.
Given the price difference - and usually since mom needs me to help finish her bowl of pho - I got the medium pho with beef meatballs. Very good, flavorful broth here. Perfectly cooked rice noodles.
My mom's vegetarian pho included a generous helping of veggies and tofu. It looked like she got more noodles in her bowl, so I had to help finish that bowl as well.
A mound of basil accompanied the sprouts and lemon wedges. Interestingly, no jalapeƱos included on this plate.
I also got a BBQ pork banh mi ($10.50) to go, since the price seemed very reasonable. Slightly charred, thin strips of BBQ pork, pickled daikon/carrot, fresh cucumber strips, and cilantro inside a buttered football-shaped baguette, then loosely placed in wax paper with a rubber band.
Another excellent banh mi on Oahu. Juicy pork and crunchy veggies. While I would have liked a bit more pork, everything else was great.
Good service here, although the server could have come by a tad more frequently to fill up the water glass.
Pho & Company is an excellent spot on Oahu's west side. 8.5/10
