College students at the University of Washington have University Village for their food and shopping needs, so it's no surprise that Molly Moon's found a spot there on the south side. They are open daily from 11 AM to 11 PM.
As always, their everyday flavors range from Coconut Chunk to their Scout Mint Brownie. They also have four rotating seasonal flavors. If you really want the fancy stuff, you can add a bunch of toppings or build your own sundae. While the prices have obviously increased over the last 13 years, it's still reasonably priced, especially when taking inflation and wage increases into account.
Seeking a dairy-free option this time, I tried a single scoop of their Vegan Birthday Cake ($6.95). From taste alone, I concluded it was a coconut milk-based ice cream, with lots of sprinkles folded in. Definitely on the sweeter side, as expected. Full-bodied, creamy, and delicious.
My mom enjoyed her creamy German Chocolate Cake ice cream, another seasonal flavor.
Molly Moon's is now tip-free, saying they pay all their employees a generous wage. You can get their caramel, fudge, and sprinkles to take home with you, along with a bag, recipe book, hat, or shirt.
To satisfy that inner sweet tooth and support a local business, Molly Moon's is a great place to do both. 9/10
