Mole Mole Mexican Cuisine

Mole Mole Mexican Cuisine is located at the 23rd and Alberta Food Pod, on NE Alberta, in Portland, Oregon.

My next adventure took me once again to NE Alberta, still home to several food carts and other local businesses. The 4-5 carts at 23rd and Alberta have again changed since I last visited, and this time, I was craving some Mexican cuisine.

For a food cart, it's a massive menu, with different proteins for tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and more.

I ordered the Super Bowl ($15): A bowl including rice, beans, portobello, spinach, zucchini, queso fresco, salsa, pico de gallo, guacamole, and choice of meat. I went with lengua, my favorite protein from a Mexican cart, but had it put on the side since my mom, who is usually vegetarian/pescatarian, wanted to have some.

Lengua

I loved the festive, colorful bowl the food came in. It really draws you to the food and makes you feel at home. Sure, one part of it was chipped, but that tells me it's (hopefully) gotten great use over time.

The food itself was flavorful, well made, and simply delicious. Lengua still tender, all ingredients cooked properly. After a day of walking around, this and a beverage really hit the spot without making me feel overly filled.

The only part of the experience I wasn't fond of was unrelated to the food cart itself. A wasp or bee decided it was hungry and made mom and I move to finish our meal. After it followed us again, I decided the insect needed to meet its maker. I then buried it under some gravel in the cart pod. But I digress.

With hundreds of Mexican food spots in the city, Mole Mole holds its own as a great food cart to check out in the Alberta neighborhood. 8.5/10
