Home, A Bar

Home is located on SE Morrison Street in Portland, Oregon.

Business partners Scott and Brett officially opened Home on December 26. You may know Brett as the man who runs Food Carts Portland. Scott also runs Bro-Dogs, a successful Portland food cart.

The menu mainly focuses on burgers, sandwiches, and fries. There's also a full bar and eight rotating taps. I nabbed a Boneyard RPM IPA on this visit.

Scott and Brett must have been keeping up with my blog posts, because they had poutine on the menu. Didn't take long for me to make up my mind. This poutine is unique, using waffle fries and braised short rib gravy. The short ribs and gravy really come from grandma's pressure cooker.

Tons of flavor in every bite. That piping hot gravy melted the cheese curds in no time, and even the waffle fries are seasoned well and soften up a bit in all that yummy goodness. I savored every bite with my beer.

But wait, hold that phone! There's also a Hot Beef Sandwich that Scott just decided to make up on the fly -- and I swear Foodbeast will come knocking with an uploaded photo. Thinly sliced New York strip steak with grilled onions, grilled sauerkraut, grilled mushrooms, homemade poutine, cheddar, mustard, and horseradish inside an Alessio hoagie roll. Yes, that poutine INSIDE the sandwich. This honestly could give Big Ass Sandwiches a run for their money.

If there's an early game on (especially during NFL season), Home may open early and serve brunch. They may generally wing the brunch menu with the usual breakfast items (i.e. omelets, bacon, eggs, etc.) along with the everyday menu.

Although it's just over one month into business, Home appears to have a home in Portland. It's a great spot to watch sports games, and generally stays open until 2:30 AM. Check this spot out! 8.75/10
