Poblano Pepper Mexican Food

Poblano Pepper is located at the Bite on Belmont pod near SE 43rd and Belmont (across the street from the old Good Food Here pod) in Portland, Oregon.

With the closing of the Good Food Here pod, a new mini pod formed right across the street around late 2015 or early 2016. At this time, there are about 5-6 carts there, at least half of them migrating over from Good Food Here.

Poblano Pepper has a typical Mexican food menu, including tacos, burritos, and full dishes. There are rotating specials as well. The corn tortillas for the tacos are handmade, and even the flour tortillas for burritos contain garlic - something different from the norm.

The Fajita Burrito ($6.50) starts with guacamole, rice, beans (pinto or black), then add your choice of meat (marinated steak or marinated chicken), bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and sour cream. I axed the sour cream (not my thing) and chose chicken. If you don't specify which type of beans you want, pinto beans will be the default. Fairly quick service, as I received my order in about five minutes.

Burritos generally come with two types of hot sauce, one green and one orange (the latter is almost certainly habanero). I enjoyed both sauces here.

This was a very good burrito. Great flavor, and all components naturally worked well with each other. The peppers and onions remained crunchy. I didn't see any tomatoes in here, but that did not adversely affect this experience.

Poblano Pepper is a great Mexican food cart. Check it out! 8.5/10
