Spudrunners

Spudrunners is a food truck serving areas of Southern California. I spotted their truck at Vidcon 2016. It was at least their second year at the event.

Their menu mainly features loaded fries (fries with certain condiments and toppings) and a number of grilled cheese sandwich variations. Looking at their Facebook page, they also used to have stuffed burgers on their menu.

Their Pesto Grilled Chicken ($9.95) had grilled chicken, brie, tomatoes, spinach, and pesto aioli between two slices of grilled bread. While the bread toasting was superb (lovely golden brown), the chicken left a lot to be desired. My sandwich unfortunately had dry, mostly flavorless chicken. I still ate my sandwich, but had they really seasoned that chicken well and added more pesto aioli to the mix, this could have scored some serious points.

The menu noted all orders come with choice of dipping sauce. Didn't get asked which sauce I wanted, nor did I get any. Maybe I needed to order fries?

These days, I generally refrain from stating too many negative remarks about places. With limited free time on the schedule, I honestly wish I had more time to get something else from this truck.

The fries look rather promising. Garlic Parmesan Fries, Santa Fe Fries (with of course must have green chile), Chili Cheese Fries, and Pulled Pork Fries all sound incredible. The Garlic Parmesan Fries are $6.50, while the others will run you $9.95.

Maybe I'll run into Spudrunners again next year and give them another shot. 6/10
