Guamanian Grill is a food truck located in Salem, Oregon. I spotted this truck at the 2016 Bite and Brew event (July 21-24) at the Salem riverfront.
In addition to serving cuisine from the island of Guam, this food truck is dedicated to giving back to the troops. "Lift for the 22" is a nonprofit organization that gives gym memberships to veterans. On average, 22 veterans commit suicide each day, largely due to the traumatic events they experience while serving our country. Lift for the 22 is a great cause to support, and I invite people to check out their website.
Guamanian Grill has several menu items (all Chamorro recipes) ranging from kelaguen to lumpia.
Being on my Guamanian chicken bender, I got the Chicken Kelaguen ($6), which features cubed cold chicken, celery, chiles, and lime. A bunch more celery in here than the version at Island Girl's Lunchbox (review coming in a few days), but a successful dish. Considering I want my usual protein gainz, this is a tasty dish worth getting.
While kelaguen would usually come with tatiyas (triangular flatbread or tortillas), they didn't have those ready at the time. Instead, I got a couple of well-prepared crab tempura with sweet chile sauce on the side. Slight crunch on the outside and warm on the inside.
Guamanian Grill is usually open on Mondays and Wednesdays, but also does special events such as the Bite and Brew. Check out this food truck! 7.75/10
