Lula's

Lula's is a breakfast food cart located at the A-15 food pod (near NE 15th and Alberta) in Portland, Oregon.

Owner Emily opened this cart in April 2015. Lula's has from-scratch food with a Southern twist.

The menu is basically sandwiches, with occasional daily specials. The online menu also includes breakfast/brunch plates. Sandwiches are made from scratch, right down to the bread. On this visit, it was a house-made sourdough English muffin. Coffee served here is St. John's French pressed.

The Pulled West ($7) has pulled pork, red cabbage slaw, and South Carolina mustard BBQ sauce. You can add a fried egg for $1 more, which I did.

Juicy and tender pulled pork, with amazing tangy BBQ sauce.Crunchy slaw. English muffin tasted homemade all the way, fluffy inside with a bit of crunch. The fried egg still had a bit of runny yolk in it. It's a breakfast sandwich that left me wanting seconds and thirds.

Other sandwich options include the B.E.C. ($6; bacon, egg, and cheddar) and the Baby Sweet ($7; roasted sweet potatoes; fried egg, carrot mole, chipotle black bean spread, and pickled carrots).

Lula's is open Thu-Sun from 9-2 during winter. Check this awesome food cart out! 8.5/10
