The Kitchen on Court Street

The Kitchen is located on Court Street SE in Salem, Oregon.

Located in the old Casey's Cafe spot, The Kitchen is more a hybrid of a bistro, restaurant, and bar. There are the appetizers, soups, salads, and sandwiches, but also stay open for dinner with heavier, larger portions. And of course, there's a full bar available.

The panda joined a friend for lunch and wanted tacos. The Blackened Lime Catfish Tacos ($11) are topped with slaw, pico de gallo, and cilantro crema. Two tacos in corn tortillas, served with Spanish rice and black beans. Amazing flavors and a nice, pleasurable spicy kick.

My friend ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes ($6) and a bowl of chili ($9). Fried green tomatoes were excellent; nice job on the breading and frying. Tasty chili, full of meat and beans, good amount of spice. No pictures for those dishes, but I'm sure other people have posted such photos on Yelp.

There may be specials posted. The Kitchen is an ideal spot for brunch, a hearty dinner, or a simple cocktail. Another nice food option in Salem. 8/10
