Azul Tequila Mexican Taqueria has two locations in Portland: A la Carts pod at SE 50th and Ivon, and Tidbit Food Pod (SE 28th and Division). This blog post is for the Tidbit location.
The original cart is at A la Carts. The Tidbit cart is noted as their second cart. Standard Mexican food, from tacos to burritos to enchiladas. All reasonable prices.
The Carnitas burrito ($5.50) called my name this time. Braised juicy pork, choice of pinto beans or black beans, Spanish rice, fresh guacamole, and pico de gallo in a flour tortilla.
Excellent carnitas, perhaps some of the juiciest I've had. Pinto beans were also good, and the right amount of rice. Guacamole and pico de gallo brought everything together. Not the biggest burrito for my panda-sized appetite, but very solid.
I wasn't asked my option of pinto or black beans, which makes me think one may have to specify black beans if they want it. Pinto beans might be the default. Good service, reasonable wait time.
Two types of hot sauces here, one green and one orange-red. Orange-red is creamier and slightly spicier. Green is likely tomatillo-based.
Azul is a great food cart to get your Mexican food fix! 8/10
