Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue has four locations in Missouri (three in KC) and one in Kansas. This blog post covers the Freight House location on W 22nd Street in Kansas City, Missouri.
There's a fairly large parking lot, but of course I missed that and just parked on the street about two blocks away. It's a dim interior and the dining area seems more appropriate if you came here for a special occasion.
It's a big menu, but it's totally worth coming here for the lunch specials. I got the Two-Meat BBQ Combo ($13.99), picking burnt ends and lamb ribs. When getting burnt ends, you can get two types (choice of beef, pork, ham, or sausage) with your meal -- so I basically got three meats on this visit. I got the beef and pork burnt ends, as they were the most popular.
Although the default (large) side is french fries for the lunch special, you can get another large side or choice of two small sides for no additional charge. I got two small sides of cole slaw and BBQ beans. The lunch also comes with a piece of toast.
Delicious lamb ribs fell clean off the bone. Beef and pork burnt ends brought such lovely smoky flavor. The beans also packed such satisfying flavor and a true KC experience. I'm glad I got the tasty slaw for a refreshing pick-me-up.
I was given two more BBQ sauces on the side. The original is a true, sweet KC sauce. The spicy version is basically the original with a bit more kick.
Jack Stack is open 7 days a week starting at 11 AM.
After having walked all over the Kansas City Zoo for four hours, I had to treat myself to the best BBQ I had in Kansas City. 9.5/10
