Succotash

Succotash is located on Holmes Street, near the UMKC campus, in Kansas City, Missouri.

A very bright, colorful vibe when I first saw by the place, confirmed when I walked inside. I could easily envision Succotash as part of the Portland food scene. Quite fittingly, Succotash is part of the Crossroads Arts District in KC.

The breakfast menu includes benedicts, egg scrambles, and pancakes. My server sold me on the Slow Roasted Pork Hash ($12), which was featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The dish contains the slow-roasted pork hash (finished for a bit on the flattop), over potatoes, with two sunny side up eggs, cheddar, black beans, verde, pico de gallo, and a warm tortilla.

Excellent portion size and very delicious. Everything worked so well together, and while I could have probably put everything in the tortilla to make a big soft taco, I opted to enjoy everything in dainty panda fashion.

The potatoes were my personal favorite in the whole dish, having hit a nice crispness overall and the skin still on them. Breaking the egg yolk over everything is a pure win.

Succotash is a solid breakfast place in Kansas City! 8.5/10
