Sabor Mexicano

Sabor Mexicano is located on Main Street in Vancouver, Washington.

Since I frequently head into downtown as part of my work, I decided to stop by Sabor Mexicano for a late lunch.

The menu options are the usual options one can find at a Mexican restaurant, from street tacos to burritos to enchiladas. Lunch specials are available from 11 to 2, Monday through Friday. Meat options for tacos and burritos include carne asada, chicken, al pastor, carnitas, or birria.

Birria meat here is basically a stewed beef marinated in spices. Birria can also refer to a type of spicy Mexican beef stew.

I got the Two Taco lunch special ($8.50), choosing birria as my meat. The tacos were of the single corn tortilla type (as opposed to double corn tortilla tacos), but appeared larger than if it was a double corn tortilla street taco. You also get a side of Spanish rice and beans topped with cotija cheese.

My server also left two squeeze bottles on the table, one for green sauce and one a spicier red-orange sauce. While both were very delicious, I started dousing everything with the much spicier red-orange sauce. I didn't ask, but it likely had habaneros or equivalent in there.

The tacos were fantastic. A good helping of juicy meat, with onions and cilantro to complement. Very good rice and beans, too. For $8.50, it was a decently filling meal with all that starch.

Other lunch specials include getting a burrito, enchilada, tamale, quesadilla, or a chile relleno.

They had margaritas here too. If only I didn't have to go back to work....

Very good service, and my meal arrived in maybe three minutes. Super quick and lunch maybe lasted 15 minutes total.

FYI, happy hour is from 3-6 on the weekdays.

Head to Sabor Mexicano for some great Mexican food! 8.5/10
