DiNic's (a.k.a. DiNic's Roast Pork or Tommy DiNic's) is located in the Reading Terminal Market on N 12th Street, in downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
I've been wanting to come here for years, ever since I first saw it featured on Man v. Food. Adam Richman didn't do a challenge here, but he praised DiNic's on the Philadelphia episode. Richman then crowned DiNic's roast pork sandwich a few years later as being the Best Sandwich in America.
Without hesitating, I ordered the award-winning Roast Pork sandwich ($9.75) and added sharp provolone and broccoli rabe for $1.75 more. The temperature-hot, juicy pork goes quick to the fresh Italian roll, then gets a bit more of that meat gravy.
Incredible, and I see why Richman called it the best sandwich in America. Extremely juicy and flavorful pork, with the sharp gooey provolone and slightly bitter-garlicky broccoli rabe providing additional flavor dimensions. All the while, that Italian roll doesn't collapse, standing up to all that messy goodness.
I arrived close to 5:30 PM, when the entire market was shutting down for the evening (6 PM close), but I still got my order very quick.
Hands down, DiNic's is an elite spot not just in the Reading Terminal Market, but in Philadelphia. 9.25/10
