Dat Cajun Guy

Dat Cajun Guy is located amongst a small lot of food trucks in Haleiwa, Hawaii.

While my cousins ventured to another food truck in the area, this one stood out to me. I've had some good cajun food at Portland food carts and wanted to see how this one stacked up.

It's the standard menu one would probably find at a cajun cart.

I opted for the small "Gumbalaya" ($6.50), which is basically a scoop of jambalaya in a bowl of gumbo. I ordered it for takeout and immediately discovered they would keep both components separate in that scenario. Honestly, I didn't mind; it basically became a tasting sample of two traditional items.

Jambalaya was very good. Love the combo of meats used (pork, chicken, beef, and smoked sausage), and seasoning was spot-on. Delicious gumbo here; the traditional chicken and sausage variety.

Other dishes include Red Beans and Rice; New Orleans BBQ Shrimp; Po'Boys; and Beignets.

If you're in the area, give this food truck a try! 8/10
