Chillz Frozen Custard is located on Central Avenue in Albuquerque, NM.
While frozen custard does exist in the Pacific NW (Sheridan's Frozen Custard), the panda has a sweet tooth and wanted dessert.
Chillz serves vanilla and chocolate frozen custard, plus whatever special flavor they have that day. They can put the frozen custard in a cup, cone, or on a freshly made waffle.
I opted for a small waffle topped with their frozen custard flavor of the day -- Butter Pecan. It came with one topping, so I chose crumbled graham crackers.
The frozen custard here is extremely velvety and soft. Butter pecan is delicious and worked with the graham crackers. The waffle was also delicate to cut easily, yet provided a stable foundation for the frozen custard to stand on.
There is a 30-minute food challenge here: 8 waffles, 8 scoops of frozen custard, 8 toppings. A handful of my competitive eating friends have beaten this. On this day, the panda opted to enjoy his dessert and space his fluffiness over a few days -- instead of a few minutes.
Chillz is a solid dessert spot in ABQ. Check it out! 8.5/10
