Busick Court (Part 3)

(Original Review -- May 2011)
(Second Review --  July 2011)

Several years after my last review, I returned to Busick Court in Salem for breakfast. It is still in the same location on Chemeketa St NE, near Commercial.

The review links above were in the early days of my blog, and for whatever reason, the pictures to many of my old blog posts no longer work. I unfortunately don't have the time to go through every post to correct this, so the words will have to speak for themselves somehow there. But since this was one of my go-to breakfast spots when I lived in Salem, I felt like providing this treat to all readers of this blog. For those who were here from the start, a little nostalgia. For those who came in afterward, an insight as to why this was a personal favorite.

I met one of my best friends for lunch back in April. The place certainly fills up for weekend brunch.

Bottomless coffee is still available for a reasonable price; while I didn't catch the price on the menu, I'll take unlimited refills any day. The mug is filled with advertising, and the menu is the same way. Our server made sure the coffee mug didn't go below half a cup, pretty impressive given the full house.

I got the Curried Shrimp Omelet ($11.95): shrimp, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and jack cheese, topped with curried hollandaise. It's roughly a three-egg omelet. For my side, I got red potatoes and wheat toast; the other options include a pancake, biscuit/gravy, or fresh fruit ($1 more).

Good helping of shrimp in the omelet and, being a curry fan, the curried hollandaise is awesome. However, the shrimp was a bit overcooked this time, and I'll need to see if I can get my potatoes a bit more well done and crispy.

Not surprisingly, the prices have gone up at least a couple bucks since I was last here.

Overall, it was a great breakfast as usual. For me, it may no longer be the absolute incredible place I had once touted it as, but it is still a very solid breakfast spot. 8.5/10
