Off the Wall Craft Beer and Wine

Off the Wall Craft Beer and Wine is located in South Shore Market, on Auahi Street, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Ever been to a pour-your-own alcohol place? I know I didn't - until I visited Off the Wall at the end of 2019.

They'll allow you to see what beers, ciders, and wines are on tap beforehand. Each screen is a touchscreen for what the drink is, the description, and the price per ounce. It gets very pricey; beers and ciders are about 60-80 cents per ounce on average, and the wines are $1.50 to $2 per ounce. You're paying for the novelty and their high overhead (being in Kakaako).

If you decide to get some drinks, they'll swipe your credit card to start a tab. You'll then receive one of their Off the Wall cards that will allow you to pour any beer, cider, or wine they have available. It's easy to operate, and the employees will even show you how to work everything if you're still unsure.

I found the best bang for my buck was to sample all the beers and ciders I wanted to try, usually 1-2 oz pours, unless I saw something I really liked. Still, I'd go no more than 12 oz a glass, given the price tag of the beers. Trust me, the prices tally up quickly.

Off the Wall wants you to change out glasses for every beer you get or every time you go back up, no refilling of the same glass (maybe unless you get a taster and then immediately fill that same glass with the same beer).

There are 4-5 ciders, about 12 beers, and 5 wines on tap. All are made in Hawaii, no mainland or international stuff. I love that they support local.

Off the Wall also serves food. To order food, you'll go back up to the counter you got your Off the Wall drink card at to order, and someone will serve the food to you.

The food menu looks very impressive, from a Cubano sandwich to chimichurri wings.

Happy hour is Monday to Friday, from 11 AM to 3 PM.

It may be troublesome to get parking, depending on when you go. The adjacent parking lot tends to bottleneck or back up with cars, but there's a lot in the area.

Off the Wall is a fun place, and I definitely recommend going for the experience. 8/10
