Portland Burger Week 2018 (Part 3 of 3)

This is the third of three blog posts covering the places I visited for Portland Burger Week this year (August 13-18). Be sure to check my previous two blog posts for the other places I went to this year!

In case you missed the first two posts, all Portland Burger Week burgers were $5.00 and served from August 13-18. The burgers, as a result, all tended to be on the smaller side so that the participating places could hopefully make some profit from this. Patrons hopefully tipped a bit more generously.

Burger #5 of the week was the Spicy Peanut Butter Bacon Bomb from Triple Nickel, another place I had not been to before. Everything about that seemed so amazing to me: 1/3 lb Angus patty topped with a homemade spicy peanut butter and bacon slaw, all on a brioche bun. Real bacon diced up in there, great crunch on the slaw, and, as a big peanut-butter-on-burgers fan, it was a mega hit with me. Great choice with the brioche bun; soft and not a lot of bread, allowing me to enjoy all the good stuff in between.

Burger #6 (and the last one for me this year) was Ya Hala's Beef Falafel Burger. It looked like a beef patty with a falafel ball in the middle, topped with caramelized onions, tzatziki, and lettuce. Nice creativity with the falafel components surrounding the beef. While the tzatziki was great, this needed another zesty or spicy component to bring it more together for me. A lot of bread here as well, with the bun being tall and room temperature (making it more chewy).

Ya Hala also has a mango margarita that will set you back $9.00. I didn't detect a lot of tequila or triple sec, but the refreshing mango really hit the spot. Salt on the rim with a lemon wedge.

I can't wait until next year's Portland Burger Week. More creations to devour!
