Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe

Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe is located on E Randolph Street in downtown Chicago, Illinois.

I recently took a spontaneous trip to Chicago, and Wildberry came up on my list of awesome breakfast places. Downtown Chicago was admittedly not easy to maneuver, even with a GPS. I recall taking one wrong turn and ending up in an underground parking lot - and taking some five minutes to find my way out. The parking in downtown is also crazy expensive, and locals would tell me later that it is usually wise to take the train (underground subway) when going into downtown.

I got there before 8 AM and saw the place was largely packed. Still, I had no wait and got seated right away.

Wildberry's menu includes the usual breakfast fare, such as omelets, skillets, and (of course) pancakes.

As usual, I started with bottomless coffee ($3.50).

I ordered the Homemade Corned Beef Hash ($13): steamed ground corned beef mixed with Idaho potatoes, served with two eggs any style, choice of hash browns or fruit, and choice of toast or pancakes. I went with overeasy eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. Especially when Wildberry puts "pancakes" in their business name, pancakes were a must. I love the large portions here.

I received a plate with maple syrup and whipped butter (for the pancakes) and ketchup (for the hash browns).

Excellent corned beef, seasoned well with a little crunch from the flattop grill on the exterior. Very good hash browns (shredded potatoes), which in retrospect, I probably could have requested them more well done. Eggs cooked perfectly.

As expected, those pancakes were outstanding. It had a sweet creamy flavor to it, cooked to a perfect olden brown.

Very good service here. When I left, there were a bunch of people waiting to get in, so I had excellent timing here. If you're in downtown Chicago, head to Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe for delicious food! 9/10
