Mae Ploy

Mae Ploy is a Thai restaurant located on NE Alberta Street in Portland, Oregon.

My mom and I wanted some Thai food, so we stopped in for lunch during our walk up and down NE Alberta.

Mae Ploy has the usual Thai dishes, such as curries and Pad Thai. My mom particularly had her eyes set on some fried rice that another patron was enjoying.

The original fried rice has rice, egg, tomato, onion, peas, carrots, and broccoli, topped with tomato, cucumber, and lime. It comes with choice of vegetables, tofu, chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, squid, or even mixed seafood. We opted for the tofu this time.

While I normally would default to a chicken or mixed seafood version, I actually enjoyed the tofu version. A good browning on the outside, and they likely used firm tofu. It's a very healthy portion size that could feed one very hungry adult. My mom and I chose to split one on this visit.

Also, you can get your dish from mild to very spicy. Since my mom doesn't eat very spicy food, we ordered the default, mild version. But you know I'd get the very spicy option if I ate this myself.

There appears to be a full bar, with a couple of beers on tap.

it wasn't very crowded when we got there, but perhaps we had missed a lunch rush.

Mae Ploy is a solid Thai food spot in NE Portland! 7.5/10
