Common Grounds Coffeehouse

Common Grounds Coffeehouse is located on SE Hawthorne Blvd, near SE 43rd Avenue, in Portland, Oregon.

With so many coffee shops in the Pacific NW, my friends and I decided on this one because it was fairly close to where we were at.

Common Grounds is a cozy coffee house with a few tables. Typical espresso options here. They have their own blend of coffee beans, too. The Fox & Hen Blend - to match Common Grounds' logo - is a medium and dark-roasted hybrid from Portland's own Caffe Vita.

Many times, I like defaulting to mochas, so I got a medium mocha here ($4.25).

An outstanding mocha here. Good chocolate presence and nutty notes complement the warm espresso well. Not too sweet and not too bitter.

Common Grounds also serves baked goods, like cookies and scones. For more substantial options, breakfast sandwiches and salads are also available. I'll have to return for some food in the future.

Common Grounds stays open later than many other coffee houses (until 7 PM). Being on SE Hawthorne also guarantees a bunch of foot traffic.

For some good coffee and espresso drinks, Common Grounds is a wonderful spot in Portland! 8.5/10
