Zeek's Cheese Grill

Zeek's Cheese Grill is located at the Cartlandia food pod (SE 82nd and Harney) in Portland, Oregon.

Zeek's opened in May 2014, and I dropped by on their third week of business. The main menu at the time featured several grilled cheese sandwiches, mac & cheese, and salads. The bread comes fresh from Portland French Bakery. The bread is sliced to order.

One grilled cheese sandwich really stuck out to me. The "Canard" ($9.80) features duck confit, bacon, caramelized onion jam, and brie. How gourmet a grilled cheese can one get? The panda had to try it for science.

Everything worked here. While bacon is an automatic win, the duck was also awesome. The savory onion jam and creamy brie brought everything together. The sandwich was nicely grilled.

Sandwiches automatically come with a small dipping container of tomato soup. That wasn't enough for the panda, so I ordered another cup of it ($3). The tomato soup here is extremely flavorful and the perfect thickness for dipping.

I've been told that the mac and cheese portions should be enough to fill up a normal person. The jalapeno mac & cheese sounds great. I might need to bring my ghost pepper powder and hot sauces.

Zeek's looks like they are off to a great start. I personally am a huge fan of this cart. Wishing these people well on their food cart endeavor! 9/10

  1. Aaron, thanks for the accurate and beautiful photographed review. the Canard is a revelation. Zeek slices the bread right in front of you, and the sleds are the freshest most creative. I look forward to your comments about the mac and cheese as that is this carts proclaimed specialty
