Mustache Mike's is a roaming Italian Ice food truck based in Anaheim, California. While they have a roaming truck, you can find their products throughout the United States.
This family business has East Coast roots and uses a century-old secret recipe for their Italian Ice.
Portland had an Italian Ice cart until it closed up shop a couple years back. When I saw Mustache Mike's at Vidcon in late June, I knew I had to stop and give it a shot.
There are several flavors to choose from, but the "Big Daddy" stood out the most. Basically a beautiful swirl of cherry, orange, and pineapple. I also love the refreshing feel Italian Ice brings. All the flavors stood out, but for me, the pineapple was the star.
It was $5 for a double scoop at Mustache Mike's when they set up at Vidcon. For Portland comparison, it's along the lines of what a double scoop of ice cream at Salt & Straw will run these days. It's worth noting that Salt & Straw dishes out some fairly monstrous scoops.
Apparently, there are Washington vendors carrying Mustache Mike's Italian Ice. I'll have to see where they are at. I gotta thank them again for satisfying my Italian Ice craving -- for now. 7.75/10
