Popped Art

Popped Art is found on SW Washington, between 9th and 10th Ave., in downtown Portland, Oregon.

Who doesn't love popcorn? Unless it gets stuck in your teeth, anyway. I've passed by this cart several times while walking downtown.

The small container of "Kettlecorn Drizzlers" is $4. The medium is $6 and a large is $9. Choices are Salted Caramel, Chocolate, Chocolate & Caramel, Bacon Maple, and Balsamic & Pepper.

I figure once I saw the words "Bacon Maple" on the menu list, it was time to get a container.

Holy crap this was awesome. Epic win awesome. As in "I'm gonna try to save what I can and eat this for breakfast tomorrow" awesome. And somehow, I did.

The minced bacon and the maple syrup bring that addicting salty-sweet punch. That syrup makes its way to the bottom like those Plinko chips on The Price is Right. Some of the bacon bits manage to also maneuver down the same way. And even though some people may opt to get "just" a small, you'd be getting a decent amount to munch on.

There's also the "Gourmet Kettlecorn" flavors that come in a bag ($3 small; $5 medium; $8 large). You can opt for the "Classic," or add a dollar to get Cinnamon Sugar or Sweet Jalapeno Lime. Yeah, I know there was a jalapeno option, but bacon is more an autowin than jalapenos. If there were real spicy peppers, on the other hand....

Popped Art is an awesome food cart. Predictably, the Bacon Maple and the Salted Caramel have been immensely popular choices. This is one elite food cart, and I'll have to come back to try the other flavors! 9/10

  1. Holy moly! I keep looking at that cart, but I end up feeding my cheese bread addiction at that cart next door. Now that I see the awesomeness of the bacon maple I need to just go there as a destination in of itself!
