Woodrow's

Woodrow's is a food cart currently located near the 4000 block of N Williams Ave. in Portland, Oregon. Shannon is the woman running this cart, which serves breakfast during actual breakfast hours (usually 6-9 a.m.). With most carts choosing to open anywhere from 10 a.m. to noon, this was quite a lovely surprise for me.

There are several delectable options here. French toast sounded great. Even pancakes (which may coninue to show up as a special) is hard to turn down. But the carnivorous panda wanted a more savory item.

Menu
(June 2012)
The breakfast wrap called my name, especially when the actual tortilla-like wrap is cart-made. Upon closer inspection, it almost looked like a crepe instead of a traditional flour tortilla. It starts with roasted potatoes, eggs, and cheese (I went with jack here). Seasonal vegetables included crimini mushrooms, green onions, and avocado. And yeah, bacon is added. That's not an option for me, it's a way of life. Worship the pig.

Breakfast Wrap, "Tractor Sauce," and 12 oz. coffee
(Woodrow's)
This crepe-like wrapping made my meal feel that much lighter in the stomach. Veggies were seasoned well. Probably could have used a little more bacon, and the avocado was practically non-existent here. As far as the flavors go, I can't complain. I'd easily eat at least three of these in one sitting.

The "Tractor sauce" has roasted red peppers, cilantro, and lime, basically a salsa variation. It's also quite mild, advertised as a "3" on a 1-10 scale. A refreshing condiment that pairs well with the wrap. I actually wonder if Woodrow's also has sour cream, if people also want that option on the side.

I also tried some of the coffee here. Coava Coffee Roasters is the brand of choice, and Shannon went with the Finca Zarcero variety. Nice hints of orange, chocolate, and rum here. It's more of a floral, acidic taste, certainly not your average cup o' Joe. A good change of pace, and soothing in the morning. It's a stark contrast from the dark roast, extremely bold flavors I personally reach for.

Coffee!
You can also get some great-looking baked goods here. One option that routinely pops up on their Facebook page is an "Atomic biscuits" with bacon, caramelized onions, and cheddar. Sweeter options offered in the past include carrot cake muffins and spiced apple/pear muffins.

If you want lunch, they got paninis and salads waiting for you. Breakfast is served all day, while lunchtime is 11-2. Head over to Woodrow's and try them out! 7.75/10
