E-San Thai Cuisine

E-San Thai Cuisine has a few restaurants throughout Oregon. But for this review, I went to their food cart located in SW Portland (around SW 10th and Alder).

The best part about going to E-San's food cart for lunch: all their entrees are $5! Also, they have different levels of spice, ranging from mild to extra extra hot.

I got their chicken Pad Mamoung: chicken stir-fried fresh mango, broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, onions, basil, and Thai chili sauce. Of course, I got it extra extra spicy.

Extra Extra Hot Chicken Pad Mamoung
Tried to get a closeup of the spices that coat the chicken and veggies
The dish looked stunning. Just vibrant and colorful all around! While I asked it to be extra extra spicy hot, it was still a very tasty meal. The vegetables were perfectly stir-fried (cooked but not mushy), the chicken moist and tender. What really took this dish to the next level was the mango. The chef stir-fried that mango perfectly...enough for the sweetness of the mango to really come out, but not totally disintegrate to a horrid mess. Very well done here!

The spiciness level for me was probably a 6 or 7 on a scale of 1-10, although to others it may be spicier or even unbearable (I do have a good tolerance for heat, you know). I was a tad bit disappointed that it wasn't any spicier, but hey, I'll take the nice flavors any day of the week!

This is an excellent Thai food cart to check out. E-San brings bold flavors and a bunch of heat! 8.5/10
