Saffron Street Vending

Saffron Street Vending is a food truck based in Seattle, Washington. They specialize in Mediterranean-style cuisine. While I haven't found them on the streets on a regular basis (yet), they did make an appearance at the 2011 Seattle Center Mobile Feast.

I got the Lamb Kebab Wrap ($7): lamb strips, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, and a mint yogurt sauce. I opted for a wheat wrap and asked for spicy chiles inside. Gotta have the heat! I also added a little sriracha on the side.

I seriously could eat this just about every day if I had the chance. The perfectly cooked, juicy, tender lamb strips were amazing. The mint yogurt (their take on tzatziki) gave that refreshing aura, and it's a different sauce like this that will set them apart from other gyro trucks. I liked the wheat tortilla because it's a much healthier choice than a pita or a white flour tortilla. The roasted red peppers and caramelized onions weren't lost in the mix...they simply kicked this meal up about 20 more notches.

Last, but not least, putting in the chiles was a wise move on my part. I liked the playful kick on that one. Perhaps next time, I'll tell the guys in the truck to add more to my order.

If you're not in the mood for lamb, Saffron Street Vending has wraps containing beef, shrimp, chicken, or vegetables. Saffron Street Vending is a true gem of a food truck. If you ever find them in your area, don't hesitate to get something from them! 8.75/10
