Sweet Action Ice Cream

Sweet Action Ice Cream is an award-winning scoop shop on Broadway St. in Denver, Colorado. Would this panda enjoy the sweet treats at this critically acclaimed place?

The place looks plain on the outside and standard on the inside. You know, menu board, a bunch of chairs and tables, the counter with the various flavors. No weird colors or abnormal-looking distractions in my line of sight.

OK, maybe the tables are unique in design and color...

A friendly guy at the counter greeted us, and I wasted little time trying various flavors.

Avocado ice cream?! Yup. It had a little sweetness with that lovely light green color. I saw a couple chunks of real avocado in there. No overpowering avocado taste, which may be a good thing.

Chocolate chile ice cream always sounds like a winner to me, and I give it the thumbs up here. Wonderful texture on the chocolate ice cream. The chile just barely came through for me, but more sensitive tongues will catch it quicker. My tongue really wants to be punished. Bad panda.

Stranahan's Whiskey Brickle was amazing. If I wasn't so gluttonous less than an hour prior, I would have gone with this one. The whiskey comes through, and the brickle's otherwise-sweet and crunchy qualities contrast nicely with the ice cream.

Whiskey Brickle was awesome...
Sorbets
(Strawberry lemon or tangerine)
In the end, it was a tossup on the sorbets. Tangerine was good, but strawberry lemon hit the nail on the head. A fruity, tangy sensation that retained sweetness and gave a much-needed breather from anything savory and heavy. Both sorbets were very smooth, a huge plus.

My friend enjoyed some chocolate ice cream in one of Sweet Action's handmade waffle cones. He remarked how fresh the cone was. Probably a sufficient ringing endorsement for me to try next time. Check this place out, it really delivers great stuff! 8.5/10
