The Beanery (Part 2)

(Original Review -- May 2011)
(Third Review -- March 2012)

I continued my tour of Salem with a return tip to The Beanery.

I last came here in summer 2011 and didn't really leave impressed with the decaf French roast. But knowing they also had some good-looking food items, I popped in for a quick bite.

Featured specials change all the time!

Paninis
Quiche!
I went with their panini combo ($4.95), choosing the Greek panini. I basically got 1/4 of a whole panini here, with a cup of soup (clam chowder on my visit). The Greek panini had pesto, provolone, feta, sundried tomato, mushroom, red onions, and more -- all inside ciabatta bread. Once the sandwich was pressed and the soup ladled, I dug right in.

Greek Panini and Clam Chowder
(The Beanery)
Oh, we have a winner! The chowder was seasoned well, a terrific consistency. I would have hoped for a stronger clam presence (more clams), but the taste, for me, rivaled Word of Mouth's chowder. Additionally, I had a beautifully pressed panini with a colorful blast of refreshing flavors.

They still have a wide assortment of quiches, pies, and a full espresso bar. I had my eyes on some of the special drinks, which included caramel apple cider, eggnog latte, peppermint mochas, etc. This may be one of my new go-to spots in Salem! Definitely glad I gave them another shot.
