Random Order Coffeehouse & Bakery is located on NE Alberta in Portland, Oregon. Along with a full espresso bar, they are known for
their award-winning pies. You will likely see this place swarming with college-age individuals (but of course, people of all ages come in here).

Wish I coulda tried this pie...wasn't there the first two times I went |

Just deciding to kill some time in the area, I got a small coffee ($1.50). Really just a nice, robust French press coffee. Very smooth, without that off-putting bitter aftertaste.

Small coffee...don't worry, it was a full cup at the start

The following week, I returned for some pie -- even though I was stuffed from lunch. Hey, I saved some room *points to some very tiny crevice in the stomach area* Again, the small, cozy coffee house was buzzing with happy patrons.
I got a slice of Old World Farm Apple Pie ($4.75). This pie uses organic heritage apples from Old World Apple Farm in Ridgefield, Washington (hence the pie's name).

I thought the pie was pretty good, but probably would have been better had I requested my slice warmed up (not thinking, doofus...). Excellent consistency on the filling, with ideal use of apple pie spices for my liking. I would have liked to see a bit little more apple in there. I enjoyed the embedded sugar granules on the top crust. The crust itself was on the harder side, likely from staying out so long on the shelf.
I was a bit taken aback by the price (any slice of pie is $4.75). I won't blame Random Order. I could be like many others and blame G.W. Bush. But eh, it is what it is.
Apparently the pie I have to try is the Vanilla Salted Caramel Apple Pie. It wasn't there on the two occasions I went...oh well. I still say this is a pretty darn good place to hit up in NE Portland!
7.5/10
