Salt & Straw (Yelp Elite Event)

On December 20, 2011, I attended my second Yelp Elite function at Salt & Straw, an ice cream scoop shop on NE Alberta St. This 21+ event included samples of amazing drinks and ice creams. How about beer ice cream floats (using a lovely Ninkasi stout)? Perhaps a milkshake with Lavishment vodka? Since the place was so small, there were two "shifts" for this event (4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, then a second wave from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm).

Also, this event marked the debut of a new beer ice cream: Ninkasi Oatis Stout with Fudge. I thought it was their best beer ice cream yet. The stout is present but not overpowering, and the sweet fudge stays controlled for a pleasing experience.

Salt and Straw continues to impress me with new ice creams and constant use of social media. For example, this is the only ice cream shop I've seen to date that may use duck fat in their ice cream and their caramel. And man, it's delicious. Enjoy the photos below!
