Straight From New York (Part 2)

Having that pizza craving, I returned to Straight From New York pizza on a Monday for lunch. I knew I had just an average experience on the pizza the previous time, and felt like they should be given another shot.

Dough!

I went with a slice of Hawaiian pizza ($3.50)...ham and pineapple. Yum. The cashier took a slice and heated it up in a small oven before handing it to me.

Sexy closeup time! Well, at least it is to me....
I thought the pizza this time was noticeably better than my last visit. The slice was thin, with that addictive slightly crunchy crust. The underside of the pizza was a marvelous light to darkish brown. The slightly sweet pizza sauce worked well with the savory ham and the sweet pineapple. Not overly cheesy or saucy...very well done. Oh yeah, and you *gotta* fold the pizza in half when you eat NY pizza. I wouldn't do it any other way.

I really liked the dine-in counters inside Straight From New York, complete with bar stools. But damn, the smell of the place. I swear the pizza essence burned a hole in my memory bank...it's never leaving me.

Consider coming to Straight From New York at certain times in the afternoon (either 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., or the last hour before closing). You can get any slice for $2.50. Also, you can get any two slices with a medium drink for $6.75. Another excellent deal, I must say.

I'm glad I went back...now I know what they can pull off! Their other pizzas look pretty good as well. Check out Straight From New York pizza ASAP! 8/10 (large rating increase)
