French Press

French Press is a coffee and crepe business in Salem, Oregon. They have savory crepes, sweet crepes, and various drinks (coffees and smoothies).

My first few experiences at French Press were quite positive. I enjoyed the decor of the place and the friendly staff. The food and drinks I've had are very positive as well. Very nice portions here.

I enjoyed the Chicken Cordon Bleu savory crepe. A nice blend of pulled chicken, slivered ham, Swiss cheese, sauteed onions, and mushrooms. The cream sauce brought all the components together nicely.

I do wish they had more options for both sweet and savory crepes (other than the ten or so savory crepes and the five sweet crepes), perhaps add a wider variety of ingredients to choose from? But then again, you could probably just create your own sweet/savory crepe, so no big deal. And regarding the breakfast crepes, I'm assuming the "main" ingredient can be bypassed if there are vegetarians ordering it. The "main" ingredients are all meat (ham, bacon, pork, or sausage). I'm also concerned if there is a vegan option as well.

Their Northwest Berry Blend smoothie has good berry flavor, but there were a bunch of large ice chunks still in my smoothie. This is why crushed ice is ideal to use, not cubed or chunked ice.

I'll probably go back in the future for a sweet crepe. If they taste great and look anything like the picture right above, sign me up for another return trip.

Overall, I think this place is decent. It's pretty popular with the locals, and I can see why. 7/10

  1. Hey Aaron, at French Press you can custom make any crepe, which is nice for our vegetarian customers. I like your idea of a vegan crepe, as of right now we don't have that option since our baked good and crepes all use eggs. I'll take the idea to management and see how we could incorporate your idea. Thanks!
