India Cafe

India Cafe has three locations on Oahu: one in Kailua, the other at the Navy Exchange, and a kiosk on the UH-Manoa campus. Chef/owner Jiva Segaran utilizes recipes handed down from his grandmother to bring authentic Indian cuisine to your table! On November 26, 2011, India Cafe participated in their first Eat The Street event.

Menu at November's Eat The Street!
Being a lover of curry, I ordered the South Indian Chicken Curry bowl ($5): two pieces of bone-in chicken with red curry and Jasmine rice.

A well-executed, delicious dish here. I detected some cinnamon in that curry, adding that extra dimension of spice I usually don't see in a curry. My friend and I marveled at how perfectly the chicken was cooked: fall-off-the-bone tender. I also loved the floral nature of the Jasmine rice. Coulda used a bit more seasoning overall, though.

Where was this when I was in undergrad at UH? I frequented the national chains like Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Subway, but now you can get the good stuff like this? Oh well, at least I don't have to take a zillion college classes anymore.

Some of India Cafe's other dishes include Chicken Tikka Masala w/Chana Masala; Raita Salad Vegetarian Platter w/Spicy Eggplant; and a Curry Pork Plate. All sound awesome!

Hit up India Cafe and try their food ASAP! 6.75/10
