Noodle House

Noodle House is a food cart located near the corner of SW 9th and Washington in downtown Portland, Oregon. Opening around May or June 2011, their house-made, hand-pulled noodles attempt to set them apart from other carts in Portland.

I had been wanting to try this place for a couple months now, and finally had the noodle craving to check it out. I'm a huge seafood lover, and anyone who knows me (or at least reads my reviews) knows I love spice. Thus, I knew the spicy Seafood Noodles ($7) would be the perfect menu item for me here.

Love this close-up shot of the seafood and the spices!
The noodles were excellent, cooked to al dente and perfect for my tastes. I enjoyed the crunch of the stir-fried vegetables against the chewy noodles. The spices here were spot-on, just amazing flavor overall. The seafood, namely consisting of squid, octopus, and shrimp, was also good, although the squid was ever so slightly on the rubbery side. Considering seafood in general can be hard to cook properly, it's a minor nitpick from yours truly.

The spicy noodles weren't overly spicy for me; I could have easily handled more heat. Certainly a mental note for next time.

If you don't like it real spicy, Leung, the chef of this cart (and the former chef at Du Kuh Bee in Beaverton) will make it milder for you. Certain menu items also have a curry-flavored option, which I also found intriguing. Go to the Noodle House food cart in downtown Portland for some amazing noodles. Who woulda thunk...homemade noodles from a food cart? Awesome! 8.5/10
